Now that we’re about halfway through Twilight of the Republic Planetary Qualifiers, it’s time to take stock of how the meta is shaping up for the Premier format of Star Wars: Unlimited.
The suspension of boba-fett-collecting-the-bounty-sor-15, along with a host of new cards released from the third set, has widened the playing field for competitive players.

Meta Overview
With the meta boogeyman out of the picture, the Premier format is finally looking a lot healthier. Still, there was a clear winner in the post Boba Fett meta, and that is Mono-Cunning han-solo-audacious-smuggler-sor-17.
Han1 Yellow had the most top finishes in the Planetary Qualifiers so far, more than the rest of the Tier 1 archetypes combined. More impressively, its leader also won the most events, though versions with other bases contributed to this number. This has certainly cemented the smuggler’s place as the leader to beat.
Twilight of the Republic has brought some exciting leaders that have performed well recently. jango-fett-concealing-the-conspiracy-twi-16, quinlan-vos-sticking-the-landing-twi-18, and anakin-skywalker-what-it-takes-to-win-twi-12 have all made consistent appearances in PQ Top 8s.
Tier 1
Han1 Yellow
Without a doubt the best cunning-sor-203 deck, Han1 Yellow is far and away the best deck right now as well, at least when looking at PQ results.
It has a great matchup against tarkintown-sor-25 in particular, thanks to ground units like l3-37-droid-revolutionary-shd-197 and liberated-slaves-shd-200 that won’t easily be picked off by the base.
Being able to cheat strong 3-cost units like bodhi-rook-imperial-defector-sor-201 and ezra-bridger-resourceful-troublemaker-sor-192 on the first turn lets it get ahead on board quickly.
Those seeing a lot of Han1 Yellow might want to consider going Green, as the deck has a tough time dealing with ramp strategies.
Sabine ECL
Sabine ECL perhaps benefitted the most from the Boba Fett ban, as it was a tough matchup for the revolutionary. It’s the pick if you want to bash the opponent’s face I mean base as fast and hard as possible.
Early game rebels powered by fleet-lieutenant-sor-240 and general-dodonna-massassi-group-commander-sor-242 can initiate an early assault. Raiding fighters green-squadron-a-wing-sor-141 and red-three-unstoppable-sor-144 are a menace in space. Once their base gets low, poe-dameron-quick-to-improvise-shd-153 and wrecker-boom-shd-154 can finish the job.
Unfortunately, Sabine ECL keeps having a rough time against Han1 Yellow while also remaining well-positioned against tarkintown-sor-25 decks. Sabine players will need to fine tune their lists and have a clear game plan for these matchups.
Jango Tarkintown
Predominantly a space-faring deck, Jango tarkintown-sor-25 is one of the most popular ways to take advantage of the namesake base. An isb-agent-sor-176 or daring-raid-shd-178 can easily dispatch the opponent’s first unit, building a lead that only widens with a good enough draw.
One of the most satisfying combos in the deck is triple-dark-raid-shd-194 pulling ruthless-raider-sor-134, followed by a sneak-attack-sor-219 on the next turn. Exhaust effects such as cartel-spacer-sor-178 and no-good-to-me-dead-sor-186 can keep the tempo in your favor.
Being able to build the deck on a budget is also a big plus and will make sure it remains one of the most prevalent decks you can face in your PQ.
Quinlan Tarkintown
quinlan-vos-sticking-the-landing-twi-18, the bane of Shielded units, enables some advantageous trades as long as you can match card costs. Most Quinlan builds have a decent curve as a result and can make for satisfying play.
The current base of choice is tarkintown-sor-25, since the leader can make the same strong first turn of deleting the opponent’s first play. Cheap units like sabine-wren-explosives-artist-sor-142 and green-squadron-a-wing-sor-141 push damage while cunning cards like spark-of-rebellion-sor-200 and qira-playing-her-part-shd-202 provide disruption.
Quinlan tarkintown-sor-25 rewards skillful play with its aggressive stance and wide board. Selecting the right sideboard cards will definitely be crucial for anyone considering it for their next event.
Tier 2
Bossk Blue
Cad Bane Tarkintown
Anakin Blue
Bossk Green
Qi’Ra Green
Tier 3
Palpatine1 Yellow
Han1 Green
Rey Tarkintown
Krennic ECL
Han1 Red
Final Thoughts
It remains to be seen whether Han1 Yellow continues to dominate the meta in the coming weeks. Players picking other decks will need to consider some serious deckbuilding choices in order to have a good chance at beating the top dog.
Other than this key outlier, the rest of the Premier format is made up of a diverse number of archetypes. More than a dozen different leaders have scored at least one Planetary Qualifier win (and double that number with Top 8 finishes!), so there’s a lot of room to come up with something unexpected.
We’ll be back for another look at the metagame once the PQ season wraps up and before Jump to Lightspeed leaps onto shelves.
Until then, may the force be ever in your favor.
